Associate - Wills and Estates Lawyer

Goddard Gamage LLP has an immediate opening for a wills and estates associate to join our team in Toronto. The successful candidate will have 3 to 5 years’ experience in drafting wills, powers of attorney, and trusts, uncontested guardianship and passings of accounts applications, and estate administration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advise on estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, and power of attorney;
  • Advise on estate administration matters including a variety of intestate and testate certificate applications and on-going advice to estate trustees;
  • Advise on, draft pleadings, and attend court on uncontested guardianship applications (minors and adults), applications to pass accounts, and other uncontested estate and substitute decision making proceedings; 
  • Demonstrate strengths in client/referral source relationships and development by participating in business development activities, including client relationship management, and generating work for yourself and others at the firm.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Ontario Bar in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario and will have at least 3 years’ experience providing expert-level advice on wills and estate law. They will be able to handle files both independently and as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will have a portable book of business (preferred).
